China's financial news magazine says celebrity TV reporter taken away by prosecutors

A Chinese financial magazine says a top business reporter for the state broadcaster has been taken away by prosecutors, less than two months after his boss was detained on suspicion of taking bribes.

Caixin.com reported Saturday that Rui Chenggang, a celebrity anchorman for China Central Television, was abruptly absent from the live cast of a nightly business news program on the previous evening. Quoting an unnamed insider, Caixin says state prosecutors removed Rui from his workplace.

In May, CCTV's financial news director Guo Zhenxi was detained as part of a probe into high-level corruption at CCTV.

Rui has interviewed many world leaders and business magnets and is known for his nationalistic streak. He has more than 10 million followers on his Twitter-like microblog page.
