CFPB To Delay Controversial Mortgage Disclosure Rule

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau says it will push back introduction of a controversial mortgage disclosure rule until October that lenders said threatened to delay real estate closings by as much as a week as banks struggled to adapt to the new rules. The "Know Before You Owe" rule, which gave consumers three days to look over closing loan documents, was to go into effect Aug. 1.
