Central banks not the only crisis managers - ECB'S Weidmann

It is "wrong and dangerous" to see central banks as the only able crisis manager, European Central Bank policymaker Jens Weidmann said in an interview with a Finnish newspaper.

"Central banks in recent years have been pulled into the role of a crisis manager. Some think that central banks are the only able ones. I consider this thinking wrong and dangerous," Weidmann told Helsingin Sanomat.

Weidmann, who also heads Germany's Bundesbank, reiterated his opposition to the sovereign bond purchases by the European Central Bank, saying they pose a considerable risk to monetary policy.
