CBS shifts schedule to boost ratings for 'Extant,' which will now run after 'Criminal Minds'
"Extant" is getting a kick-start from CBS to try to improve its ratings less than a month into its run.
Starting Wednesday, CBS is moving the drama starring Halle Berry back one hour, to 10 p.m. EDT, on the schedule, following "Criminal Minds." The hope is that the long-running procedural will provide a more compatible lead-in than "Big Brother.
The Nielsen Co. said "Extant" had just less than 6.5 million viewers last Wednesday. While a top 10 show, TV's most popular network was hoping for more from the highest-profile new drama of the summer.
NBC's two episodes of "America's Got Talent" led in the ratings last week.
