Carrier Corp. closing warehouse in suburban Syracuse, cutting 62 jobs
Carrier Corp. says it's closing its last parts warehouse in the Syracuse suburb of DeWitt starting later this year, eliminating 62 local jobs.
According to the Post-Standard of Syracuse (http://bit.ly/1478XNH ), Carrier spokesman Jon Shaw said Thursday the warehouse operation will be moved to the "mid-southern U.S." starting in the second half of this year.
The job losses won't have a major impact on Carrier's employment in DeWitt. The company created 82 jobs at its local campus last year, increasing its workforce there to 1,400.
Carrier ended manufacturing in DeWitt in 2004 and since then has eliminated most parts distribution services at the facility. The remaining facility is Carrier's largest research and development center in the world.
