Cam Newton Fractures Lower Back In Car Accident
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton fractured his lower back in two places Tuesday after a two-car accident near the team's stadium in Charlotte, N.C., ESPN reported. Newton's accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Eastern time, and both he and the other driver were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Newton is expected to remain in the hospital overnight. If the star quarterback is unable to play, Derek Anderson is expected to start in his place, ESPN reported. The Panthers' next game is against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern.
