Cablevision, union differ over NLRB findings; both sides see victory in complicated ruling

Both sides are declaring victory in a dispute between Cablevision Systems Corp. and a union that represents some of the company's workers in Brooklyn.

The sides are interpreting the findings in a nearly 300-page ruling issued Thursday by a National Labor Relations Board administrative law judge.

Bethpage, New York-based Cablevision says the law judge found the company was bargaining in good faith with workers in Brooklyn seeking a new contract.

The Communication Workers of America counters that the judge found Cablevision violated several labor laws. The CWA claims Cablevision is running an anti-union campaign involving Brooklyn technicians.

Cablevision claims the complaints were an attempt to delay a vote to end CWA representation of the workers.

James Paulsen, regional director of the NLRB's Brooklyn office, declined to comment.
