Business, labor groups file brief in support of Ohio gaming industry

A group of business, labor and education officials have filed a brief in support of Ohio casinos and racinos.

The brief was submitted to the Ohio Supreme Court this week by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce along with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, police and trade unions and Lebanon City School District.

The filing is in response to an ongoing lawsuit alleging Gov. John Kasich acted unconstitutionally when he decided to legalize video lottery terminals at Ohio's seven horse tracks.

Within the brief, the groups call the lawsuit politically-motivated and say the case could stop economic growth and chill future business development if it proceeds.

Oral arguments are scheduled for June 23 to determine whether the conservative Ohio Roundtable has the standing to bring the suit.
