Boy hunting pigeons on roof with pellet gun causes partial shutdown of southeast Idaho city
A 16-year-old boy hunting pigeons with a scope-equipped pellet gun atop a rooftop in an Idaho city caused an area near its downtown to be shut down for about an hour.
Several law enforcement agencies responded at about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a man with a rifle atop a grocery store roof in Idaho Falls.
The Idaho Falls Police Department says officers spent several minutes trying to get the boy to put down the weapon.
Police say the boy acted evasively so they cordoned off a multiple-block area and called in a SWAT team. Police eventually determined the teenager wasn't a threat.
Police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen says the boy won't face charges.
