Box office top 20: 'The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies' edges 'Into the Woods,' 'Unbroken'

In a battle for holiday box-office supremacy, Peter Jackson's "Hobbit" maintained its three-week rule with $21.7 million in ticket sales over the weekend.

Disney's Stephen Sondheim musical "Into the Woods" trailed with $18.7 million, with Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken" close behind with $18.2 million. Both films in their second week of release couldn't quite overcome "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies," which has earned a total of $220.6 million in three weeks.
