Blizzard-like conditions possible in Northeast's next storm on heels of weekend wallop

A major snowstorm with blizzard-like conditions could drop a foot or more of snow across most parts of the Northeast gearing up for the workweek.

The National Weather Service says a storm system diving out of the Midwest has the potential to slowly coat from Philadelphia up to Massachusetts and Maine with snow beginning late Sunday into Monday and intensifying well into Tuesday. It says if the storm develops as feared areas east of New York City could receive in excess of a foot of snow.

The storm would come right after the first real storm of the winter hit from Pennsylvania up to New England with rain, several inches of snow and messy slush Saturday.

Numerous accidents were reported on slick roads. Police in Connecticut and Massachusetts are investigating the weather's role in two fatal traffic accidents.
