Bird hits tour helicopter, forces emergency landing in NYC; 7 people aboard, none injured
An aerial tour company says a bird has slammed into the windshield of a helicopter and forced it to make an emergency landing in New York City.
None of the seven people aboard was injured.
General manager Kathleen Wiig says the Helicopter Flight Services chopper was flying at about 1,500 feet Friday afternoon when it collided with the bird off Manhattan's West Side. She says procedures call for landing as soon as possible in such situations.
The helicopter touched down safely at the West 30th Street Heliport.
The Fire Department of New York responded but found no one needing medical attention.
