1. Bank of America (NYSE:BAC)


Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) shares are stumbling after the second-biggest U.S. bank by assets said it miscalculated certain regulatory capital levels and will have to suspend its 2014 capital plans.

2. Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) | AstraZeneca (NYSE:ANZ)


Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) officially said it made a nearly $100 bid to buy AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN) earlier this year, and said earlier this month it is still pursuing talks with the company. AstraZeneca shares are shooting up by more than 14%, while Pfizer are climbing 2.5%.

3. Forest Laboratories (NYSE:FRX) | Furiex Pharmaceuticals (NASADQ:FURX)


Forest Laboratories (NYSE:FRX) said it would buy Furiex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:FURX) in a deal valued at just south of $1.5 billion. Furiex shares are surging 25%.

4. Newmont Mining (NYSE:NEM) | Barrick Gold (NYSE:ABX)


Newmont Mining (NYSE:NEM) officially called off merger talks with Barrick Gold (NYSE:ABX), Barrick said in a press release. Newmont shares are sliding more than 5%, while Barrick is essentially flat.

5. GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH)


GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH) shares are zipping higher after the company said the FDA granted fast-track status for Sativex, a drug that helps alleviate pain for those suffering advanced cancer.
