1. Bank of America [BAC]

Bank of America shares are shooting higher in the pre-market after the No. 2 U.S. bank revealed a beat on the top and bottom lines. In a sign of the strength of the recovery for the banking behemoth, profits nearly quintupled from the year prior.

2. Apple [AAPL]

Apple is getting a boost in pre-market action after CEO Tim Cook reportedly said iPhone sales in Greater China hit a record high in the tech company's fiscal first quarter. Apple recently struck a deal with China Mobile that gives it far broader reach in the world's No. 2 economy.

3. Aeropostale [ARO]

Aeropostale is surging 6% in pre-market trading on a report from Bloomberg News that the retailer has reached out to at least two private equity firms to discuss "strategic alternatives," including a potential sale.

4. Burberry [BRBY]

Burberry shares zipped 4% higher in London trading after the luxury retailer posted strong holiday shares. There are a handful of ADRs American investors can play, including one under the symbol "BURBY."

5. General Motors [GM]

General Motors shares are dipping more than 1% in the pre-market after the automaker forecast a mild gain in 2014 earnings.
