Baker Hughes Reports Weekly Fall In Active U.S. Oil Rigs

Data from Baker Hughes showed that the number of active U.S. oil-drilling rigs fell by 10 to 545 as of Friday. The total active U.S. rig count, which includes natural-gas rigs, was down 7 at 737. Compared to last year, the total rig count has fallen by 1,183, with the oil rig count down 1,030. December crude was at $40.01 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down $1.08, or 2.6%. It was trading at $40.04 before the data.
