Baker Hughes Reports Fourth Straight Weekly Fall In Active U.S. Oil Rigs
Data from Baker Hughes showed that the number of active U.S. oil-drilling rigs fell by 21 to 524 as of Friday. The total active U.S. rig count, which includes natural-gas rigs, was down 28 at 709. Compared to last year, the total rig count has fallen by 1,184, with the oil rig count down 1,022. January crude was at $35.74 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down $1.01, or 2.8%, for the session, but trading above the $35.50 it was at before the data.
