Attorney says Utah woman accused of posing as lawyer is hard-working mother of 3
A Utah woman accused of posing as a lawyer last year has appeared in court on new charges.
Twenty-nine-year-old Karla Carbo appeared by video from jail during a brief hearing Wednesday. Her attorney and prosecutors in the Salt Lake City courtroom set another court date for later this month.
Her attorney Michael Langford said outside court that Carbo is a hardworking mother of three who looks forward to responding to the allegations.
Carbo was re-arrested last week, and the number of charges she faced tripled as state prosecutors took over a widening case.
Carbo is jailed in Salt Lake County on $95,000 bond. She pleaded not guilty to the first set of charges after her December arrest, but she hasn't entered a plea yet on the new charges.
