Arise Lord O'Neill - Mr. BRIC To Be Handed Peerage By The Queen
Jim O'Neill -- the former Goldman Sachs chief economist who famously coined the BRIC term in 2001 -- is to be handed a peerage by the British Queen and receive the title of lord. It's still unclear what he will be lord of, but as the Guardian cheekily suggests, why not of Manchester United's stadium Old Trafford, given his love of the soccer club. O'Neill was also appointed as commercial secretary at the U.K. Treasury, with responsibilities for building a new "Northern Powerhouse".
