Apple Updates MacBook Pro, Cuts Top-end IMac Price
Apple Inc. introduced an update to its MacBook Pro lineup, with the 15-inch model with Retina display now featuring a new Force Touch trackpad. The technology giant said the model's flash storage and discrete graphics are faster and the battery life is longer. Apple also introduced a new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display priced at $1,999, and lowered the price of the top-end iMac with Retina 5K display to $2,299. "Customers love the groundbreaking iMac with Retina 5K display, and now with a new lower starting price, even more people can experience the best desktop we've ever made," said Philip Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing. The stock, which was up 0.4% in premarket trade, has climbed 18% year to date through Monday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has tacked on 2.7%.
