Anheuser-Busch To Acquire Breckenridge Brewery
Anheuser Busch, the U.S. arm of Anheuser-Busch InBev SA , said it will acquire Colorado-based Breckenridge Brewery for an undisclosed amount. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016. The craft brewer will be the seventh addition to The High End, Anheuser-Busch's business unit dedicated to craft and import brands. Other brands in The High End include Goose Island Beer Company, Blue Point Beer Company, and 10 Barrel Brewing. Breckenridge Brewery is available in 35 states and will sell about 70,000 barrels in 2015. It has a new brewery and Farm House restaurant in Littleton, CO that Anheuser-Busch said in a statement "have positioned the brewery for future growth." The current management group, Breckenridge-Wynkoop, will continue to own and operate the company's remaining businesses including Ale House at Amato's in Denver and The Cherry Cricket in Denver. Anheuser-Busch InBev shares are up 19.9% for the year so far while the S&P is down 1.5% for the same period.
