Angels end talks with city of Anaheim on new stadium lease, weigh options for new ballpark

The Angels have ended negotiations with the city of Anaheim over a renewed lease on the baseball team's existing stadium and are considering options for a new home ballpark.

The Los Angeles Times reports Saturday (http://lat.ms/1nk9Njy ) that the team has been in talks with the nearby Orange County city of Tustin about a possible park.

Angels owner Arte Moreno says the team can afford to build a new stadium.

A year ago, the city of Anaheim approved a framework for negotiations under which the team would pay $150 million to refurbish Angel Stadium in exchange for a $1-per-year lease on the parking lot so Moreno could develop the site. The mayor objected to that proposal.

The Angels can opt out of their stadium lease as soon as 2016.
