1. Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD)
Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD) revealed stronger-than-expected quarterly results last week as the chipmaker looks beyond the struggling PC market and eyes opportunities in mobile. The shares are up more than 7%.
2. Nu Skin (NYSE:NUS)
Nu Skin (NYSE:NUS) shares are roaring higher after the company's China unit said it would resume corporate-hosted meetings. The company that sells skin-care products through direct marketing was the subject of a probe by Chinese regulators.
3. Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) | AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN)
Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) reportedly made a $101 billion buyout offer for AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN) that was rejected. While the talks are currently dormant, such a deal would create a drug behemoth, and could potentially boost Pfizer's early-stage pipeline.
4. Halliburton (NYSE:HAL)
Halliburton (NYSE:HAL) swung to a first-quarter profit and beat Wall Street's estimates amid strong drilling activity abroad. Shares of the second-biggest U.S. oilfield servicing company are up just slightly.
5. Newmont Mining (NYSE:NEM)
Newmont Mining (NYSE:NEM) shares are climbing after Reuters reported merger talks between the miner and Barrick Gold hit a snag.
