Amazon To Offer Feature Allowing Shoppers To Negotiate Lower Prices
Amazon.com said Tuesday it's planning to offer a new pricing feature that will allow shoppers to make an offer to buy items at a lower price. The company will initially offer 150,000 items across sports and entertainment collectibles, collectible coins and fine art. The feature will later be extended to hundreds of thousands of items in 2015. Sellers will have the ability to enable the 'make an offer' feature to show shoppers they are willing to negotiate for a lower price than the one listed. The seller will receive a lower price offer by email and can continue to haggle with the customer until the deal is complete. The feature does not allow for auction-type selling -- all negotiations will be carried out 1:1, said the company. Shares were down 1.2% in premarket trade.
