Amazon Prime Adds 10 Million New Members During Holiday Season

Amazon.com Inc. said Friday its free shipping program Amazon Prime added a record 10 million new members during the holiday season. The company said it shipped items to 185 countries with customers ordering more than 10 times as many items with same-day delivery over 2013. Amazon Fire TV was the best-selling streaming media box this season, the company said without providing further detail. The company said nearly 60% of its customers used a mobile device for their holiday shopping with the trend accelerating late in the season. Cyber Monday was the company's biggest mobile shopping day, while Black Friday showed the highest growth in mobile shopping. Shares were up 0.7% in premarket trade, but are down 24% in the year so far, while the S&P 500 has gained 13%.
