Alphabet Boosting Cloud Profile With Hire Of VMWare Co-founder
Alphabet Inc. , the company formerly known as Google, said it is beefing up its cloud operations with the hire of VMWare Inc. co-founder Diane Greene. Alphabet agreed to acquire Bebop Technologies Inc., of which Green is chief executive, for an undisclosed sum, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. As a result, Green will become a senior vice president of Alphabet's Google unit and step down from the board's audit committee. She will remain on the company's board, where she's held a seat for the past three years. Alphabet also announced the news on one of its blogs.
