Albany airport to get nearly $4 million in federal funds for upgrades

Albany International Airport is getting nearly $4 million in federal money for runway repaving and other upgrades.

The Department of Transportation award was announced Tuesday by U.S. senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Paul Tonko.

The money will be issued as a multi-year grant, with $1.2 million in fiscal year 2014. The remaining funds will be added through amendments which are subject to future appropriations through fiscal year 2015.
