After dispute with vendor, Delta grounds sales of duty-free items during international flights
Delta has ended sales of duty-free items on its planes.
Spokesman Michael Thomas said Friday that Delta eliminated the program after the airline and vendor DFASS Group were unable to agree on terms. He did not provide further details and declined to disclose the program's amount of sales. DFASS did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
On flights with duty-free sales, flight attendants sell items such as perfume, watches and jewelry from a cart. The service competes with duty-free shops at international airports.
DFASS handles sales on airlines including Air Canada and Hong Kong Airlines and operates stores at more than 25 airports in North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, according to its website.
Shares of Delta Air Lines Inc. rose 12 cents to $35.73 in midday trading.
