Aeropostale Shares Rally On Narrower-than-expected Quarterly Loss

Shares of Aeropostale Inc. soared in Wednesday's extended session after the teen retailer posted a smaller-than-projected quarterly loss. Aeropostale reported its third-quarter loss narrowed to $26.4 million, or 33 cents a share, from a loss of $52.3 million, 66 cents a share, a year earlier. On an adjusted basis, the company would have lost 31 cents a share versus a loss of 34 cents a share forecast by analysts in a FactSet survey. Net sales fell 20% to $363.3 million while same-store sales fell 10% year-on-year. In the fourth quarter, the retailer expects losses per share of 4 cents to 17 cents. Aeropostale shares surged more than 9% in after-hours trading.
