Abiomed Shares Jump On Earnings Beat, Outlook

Abiomed Inc. shares jumped in the extended session Tuesday after the medical device maker's quarterly results surged past Wall Street estimates and provided a bullish outlook. Abiomed shares rose 30% to $50.10 on moderate volume. The maker of blood circulation support devices posted fiscal third-quarter earnings of 30 cents a share on revenue of $62 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had estimated earnings of 4 cents a share on revenue of $53.5 million. Abiomed sees revenue of $223 milion to $226 million in fiscal 2015, and $260 million to $270 million in 2016. Analysts had forecast $211.4 million in 2015, and $248.6 million in 2016.
