3D Systems reports second-quarter loss of $13.7 million

Systems Corp. (DDD) on Thursday reported a second-quarter loss of $13.7 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Rock Hill, South Carolina-based company said it had a loss of 12 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 3 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 8 cents per share.

The maker of 3D printers posted revenue of $170.5 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $178.3 million.

3D Systems shares have fallen 64 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 75 percent in the last 12 months.
