In the two weeks sinceGeneral Electric(NYSE: GE) announced its second-quarter earnings on July 22, the stock price has been sliding steadily downward. Just before the announcement, on July 19, it hit a one-year high of almost $33 a share. But it's dropped 5.5% since and is now sitting just above $31 a share.

You'd think such a prolonged slide was triggered by a lackluster earnings report. But at least on the face of it, the numbers looked good. Here are three key takeaways from the report -- and the reaction that followed.
