The dam broke Monday at the Rio Tinto mine complex in Cineguita in the township of Urique. It sent a torrent of mining residue crashing down a steep mountainside carrying away heavy equipment and vehicles.
The mine is owned by the Mexican company Cluster Minero de Chihuahua.
