U.S. Stocks Open Lower After Weak Data

U.S. stocks opened slightly lower on Thursday as investors assessed a number of economic reports a day after the Federal Reserve minutes signaled a June interest-rate hike was unlikely. Jobless claims and national activity index both missed expectations. The S&P 500 opened 2 points, or 0.1%, lower at 2,124. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 23 points, or 0.1%, to 18,260. The Nasdaq Composite began the session down 5 points, or 0.1%, at 5,066.
