U.S. Stocks Open Higher On Better-than-expected Earnings

U.S. stocks advanced on Tuesday, as better-than-expected earnings and M&A activity lifted markets for the second straight session. The S&P 500 opened 7 points, or 0.4%, higher at 2,107. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 57 points, or 0.3%, to 18,092. The Nasdaq Composite began the session up 26 points, or 0.5%, to 5,018.98.
