U.S. Import Prices Dip Slightly In September

WASHINGTON - The prices the U.S. paid for imported goods fell by a seasonally adjusted 0.1% in September, much smaller than the 1.6% plunge in the prior month, the government said Friday. Excluding fuel, import prices dropped by 0.3%. The price of U.S.-made goods exported to other nations declined by 0.7% last month. In the past 12 months import prices have dropped 10.7%, largely because of a lower oil costs and a stronger dollar that makes foreign goods less expensive. Import prices are down a smaller 3.1% excluding fuel in the same span.
