Twitter Clarifies Loss Of 4 Million Users Was Not Apple's Fault

Twitter Inc. on Friday moved to clarify that a problem it had with Apple's iOS8 system that caused it to lose four million monthly users was not the fault of Apple. Twitter reported fourth-quarter earnings Thursday and had a slow growth in monthly active users with four million net additions for the quarter and a total of 288 million monthly active users, 20% more than the year-earlier period. On a conference call, the company blamed an "unforeseen bug" when users upgraded to iOS8 and seasonality for the loss of four million users. Twitter clarified Friday that the fault wasn't on Apple. "It is an issue on Twitter's side as users upgraded," the site's investor relations account tweeted.
