Stocks Open Lower As Oil Retreats

U.S. stocks opened lower Thursday, retreating from near-record levels as oil prices pulled back and investors weighed mixed economic data. The S&P 500 fell 5 points, or 0.2% to 2,101, while the Dow industrials declined 32 points, or 0.2%, to 18,080. The Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.2% to 5,003.
