Fed's Lockhart Says Mid-year Rate Hike 'quite Feasible'

The uncertainty about the economic outlook due to weakness evident in first quarter economic statistics will pass, and a mid-year interest rate hike remains "quite feasible," said Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart on Wednesday, according to The Wall Street Journal. In an interview with reporters on sidelines of the Atlanta Fed's conference on financial markets, Lockhart said the poor data in the first three months of the year "contributes to a situation of some ambiguity at the moment, but I do think this will pass." Lockhart is a voting member of the Fed policy committee this year.
