Zynga Buys Social Game Maker OMGPOP

Zynga Inc. said Wednesday it has expanded its portfolio of social games with the acquisition of start-up OMGPOP, maker of the popular "Draw Something" game.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

According to a statement from Zynga, OMGPOP's "Draw Something" had seen more than 35 million downloads in the six weeks since its introduction. It also said "Draw Something" is the No. 1 word game in 84 countries, citing data from Apple Inc.'s applications store.

Zynga, the maker of popular Facebook games like FarmVille and Mafia Wars, said OMGPOP will remain based in New York.

Zynga shares closed up 2.5 percent at $13.72 in recent trading. The stock is up by nearly half from its initial public offering price of $10 in December.
