Where to Find the Most Jobs, Best Earnings Potential

The technology and health care industries continue to lead the way when it comes to both job openings and earnings potential.

In its inaugural “Highest Paying Jobs In Demand report,” employment site Glassdoor found that the top 25 jobs in terms of salary and job availability were dominated by tech and health care. What’s more, people are generally happy in these fields as well.

“Tech is so competitive and the compensation for talent is so high that employers work hard to keep employees satisfied,” Scott Dobroski Associate Director, Corporate Communications at Glassdoor.com said. “It goes beyond that too;  into interesting work, being able to move teams, work on various projects. In health care, people are also satisfied, but the one drawback we see is the amount of pressure.”

With several managerial roles on the list, the jobs typically require 3 to 10 years of experience. According to Dobroski, a software engineer is on the lower end because they are so in demand, while a pharmacy manager is closer to the 10 year mark.

Glassdoor said for a job to be considered, it must receive at least 75 salary reports shared by U.S.-based employees over the last year. Of those that meet the criteria, they have to also be in the top 50th percentile for number of job openings per job title to qualify for inclusion in the report. Job openings represent active job listening posted within the last three months. The results also take into account job title normalization that groups similar job titles.
