What Should I do with my old iPhone?

Now that Apple has announced it’s new iPhone 5 and all that it will have to offer.  Anyone who has an iPhone 1, 2, 3 or 4 can do anyone of these ideas below to make some use of the old models.  When deciding which idea is best make sure you have the new iPhone first.  It will be a very hot item once released.

Sell at an online store

There is a market right now for older versions of the iPhone.  EBay, Craigslist, or even a website called Gazelle are all good options to have customers bid on your old phone or just buy it outright.  Currently iPhone 4s is selling for about $230-$350 mattering on the condition, cell phone, the carrier and size of hard-drive.

Trade into retailer

GameStop the video game retailer offers cash or store credit for old iPhones , along with iPods and iPads. The service is only available in stores and not online. A 32 gigabyte iPhone 4S on Verizon will get you up to $335 in store credit or up to $268 in cash.

Use it as an ipod/ Small iPad/Camera

An iPhone is in essence the same as an iPad just a little smaller.  Take the old IPhone and use it as a camera to take pictures as parties.  Take all your playlists from ITunes and load them on the old phone to use as an IPod or even to search the web where Wi-Fi is offered.

Recycle with Apple

Apple Inc.'s own recycling program will give you an Apple gift card if it is determined to have a "monetary value." A 32 gigabyte iPhone 4S with some light scratches but in good working condition was recently estimated at $280. The company also accepts broken phones for recycling but you won't get any money for them.

Give to a family member

For anyone who has a family member who didn’t buy an Iphone in the last several years this is perfect.  Your Mom, Dad, Grandparent, Sibling or even your child can get the thrill of having one of the hottest items in the 21st century thus far.  You just might have to teach them a few things before they just jump right into using it.

There are all good ideas for what to do with your iPhone.  Don’t let it just sit in your desk drawers collecting dust while you enjoy your new iPhone 5.  Someone out there wants to use the older model even you have already thrown it into the wind.
