Walmart Pay Now Available in Stores Nationwide

Heading to Walmart for some summer essentials? You can leave your cash and credit cards at home, because the retailer's mobile payment system is now available in stores nationwide.

Available through the company's app, Walmart Pay works on iOS and Android devices at any checkout lane, and is compatible with major credit, debit, pre-paid, or Walmart gift cards. Walmart first started rolling out the new payment option to select stores in December, and now says it's available at each of its more than 4,600 locations around the country.

The big box retailer says that customers are embracing the new system with Walmart Pay transactions up 45 percent in the last week.

"We want to make every day easier for busy families," Walmart U.S. Senior Vice President of Services Daniel Eckert said in a statement. He added that this is "just the beginning."

"We're building deeper relationships with our customers … and are looking forward to delivering new tools like Walmart Pay that allow them to use the Walmart App … for a faster, more convenient shopping experience," Eckert said.

To sign up, tap the Walmart Pay section on the Walmart app. If you have multiple credit cards connected to your account, select the one you want to use for Walmart Pay, or opt to use a gift card. Create a four-digit passcode (or use Touch ID on iPhone) for security, accept the terms, and you're ready to go.

At Walmart, roll your cart up to any register, open the Walmart app, and tap Walmart Pay. The camera will activate, and you'll scan the code displayed at the register. An e-receipt will then be sent to the app.

Meanwhile on the mobile payment scene, Apple Pay this week expanded to Switzerland.
