Volkswagen Stops T6 Van Deliveries After Audit

Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE) has stopped deliveries of its van Multivan T6 with diesel engine, after it could not fully confirm certain technical figures in an internal audit, the company said in a statement Friday.

The German car maker said it has already notified the German Federal Motor Transport Authority about the matter and said it could not provide further details at this time.

"The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand is currently investigating internal reports that it has not been possible to fully confirm certain technical figures in the Conformity of Production (COP) audit for the model Multivan T6 with diesel engines and passenger car type approval," Volkswagen said in the statement.

Earlier on Friday, German news magazine Der Spiegel had reported that an internal audit conducted by Volkswagen had found that the van's diesel-engine emissions were surpassing the nitrogen oxide values the company had given previously to the motor transport authority and that it had notified the authority about the findings.

"Clarifying the matter as well as coordinating and obtaining approval for any necessary action in close consultation with the competent authorities is being given top priority by the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand," Volkswagen said.
