Volkswagen Extends Diesel Scrappage Program for German Customers

Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE) said Tuesday that it will extend its incentive program for German customers to scrap old diesel-engine vehicles until the end of March 2018.

The German car maker said it would extend the program, which offers customers in Germany incentives of up to 10,000 euros ($11,780) for the purchase of a more-modern vehicle, if an older diesel engine vehicle is scrapped at the same time.

Until now, 110,000 customers have made use of the incentives, Volkswagen said.

Volkswagen started the initial incentive program in August and said it would run until the end of 2017. The extended program will have slightly adjusted conditions, it said.
