Valero Energy Reports Unit Shutdown, Emissions at McKee Refinery in Texas
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported a unit shutdown and emissions Monday at its McKee refinery in the Texas panhandle.
In a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the refinery cited a "mechanical failure of the Wet Gas Compressor" that led to excess opacity that began late Sunday and was ongoing late Monday afternoon.
"The refinery personnel followed emergency shutdown procedures to complete the unit shutdown and to minimize emissions," the refinery added.
The nearly 200,000-barrel-a-day McKee refinery is in Sunray, 65 miles north of Amarillo.
