The Steinbrenner family bought this money-making mega sports franchise in 1973 for $10 million. The team has clinched more World Series titles than any other team in major league baseball, and is currently worth a colossal $1.7 billion, according Forbes. (Reuters)

In 2002, John Henry and Thomas Werner bought the Sox’s for $380 million and now the team, which won the World Series in 2004 and broke its 86-year famine, is estimated to be worth $912 million. (Reuters)
