Don’t waste your managers and fellow colleagues’ time with a lackluster group presentation. Follow these tips to create an intriguing and informative group presentation.
Identify Your Goal
If you don’t the objective of the presentation, how can your audience? Identify what exactly you want your audience to take away from your presentation, and build your material around it.
Stay Focused
It’s easy to get distracted with the bells and whistles technology and gadgets offer when putting together a presentation. Make sure the objective of your presentation doesn’t get lost in unnecessary hoopla.
Don’t Take the Scenic Route
Keep the presentation short and sweet. Avoid providing copious amounts of information that will overwhelm everyone and risk them not retaining any details. Keep your message clear and focused on a few main points.
Talk With the Audience, Not at Them
Have a script, PowerPoint slides or talking cards to make sure you hit all your points and have something to fall back on in case you get nervous or distracted. However, don’t let these tools become your sole focus. Look up and make eye contact with the audience to help build a connection with them.
Context is Everything
Research and data that backs up your point is necessary, but if you don’t demonstrate how they fit in the point will be lost with the audience. Explain why the information you are sharing is important to the objective of the presentation.
