Taiwan Mulls Tariff Cuts on Components After Japan Quake

Taiwan' cabinet said on Thursday it will consider cutting tariffs on components for electronic products if supply shortages develop following Japan's powerful earthquake and tsunami.

There were growing concerns in Taiwan and elsewhere in the world that the devastation in Japan will disrupt production of goods used by Taiwan's tech firms, many of which make PCs and electronics gadgets for U.S. brands such as Apple <AAPL.O>.
