T-Mobile Adds AppleCare to Device Protection Plan

Good news for T-Mobile customers buying a new iPhone or iPad: the carrier's device protection plans now include AppleCare at no additional cost.

T-Mobile's Premium Device Protection plan, previously called Premium Handset Protection, costs $12 a month and offers: protection from loss, theft, and accidental damage; hardware issues such as mechanical breakdowns; Lookout Mobile Security Premium; and now AppleCare services.

Those with an eligible iPhone or iPad who sign up for T-Mobile's Premium Device Protection plan or its Jump upgrade option will have direct access to AppleCare technical support via chat or phone, $29 iPhone screen damage repairs, and free battery service. AppleCare also includes certified repairs and replacements at Apple Stores as well as software support for iOS and iCloud.

That's similar to what you'll get if you purchase AppleCare+ via Apple. Every iPhone and iPad comes with one year of hardware repair coverage and up to 90 days of complimentary support. AppleCare+ extends that coverage for another year and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage at $129 for iPhone and $99 for iPad.

The new T-Mobile perk comes after Apple last week replaced the older iPad Air 2 with a new $329 9.7-inch iPad and launched a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
