Paul Viollis: Apple's Argument Has Absolutely No Legs Whatsoever
The debate over privacy and national security is heating up yet again. Tech giant Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) recently defied a court order to unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino terrorists.
Security expert Paul Viollis, host of “The Security Brief”, disagrees with Apple’s stance on the issue.
“Their argument really, I think, has absolutely no legs to it whatsoever,” he told the FOX Business Network’s Neil Cavuto.
Viollis added: “They [Apple] just don’t want to contend to the right to privacy. They keep saying we have a right to privacy. They’re casting this shadow saying there’s going to be a long-term effect here… there isn’t.”
The security expert says he trusts the government over Apple in this particular matter.
“The reason why--this isn’t an intelligence gathering exercise,” Viollis said. “This is a criminal investigation after 14 people were killed in a terrorist attack. Apple needs to stop this nonsense and let them [the government] do their jobs.”
